Neanen golden mole

Among the mammals only golden moles can sand-swim, and among the golden moles only E. granti does it on a regular basis (they don't  even have permanent burrows). The neanean subspecies doesn't differ much from their terrestrial ancestors but because it's distribution area is disjoint experts believe that there will be three new subspecies/species in the next 400 years.

While very similar to moles these adorable creatures are no near relatives of moles,  they are mostly nocturnal, eat termites, ants and other insects. Thanks to their night loving lifestyle they are mostly save from the cold blooded hunters of the day.
