Description

Many have asked me if Nea has mammals at all. And yes, Nea has mammals, here we have one of the most common non-arid species in the northern Hemisphere.
Humboldt gliders, or Mekormataw, are small, nocturnal marsupials like their ancestors from Earth but they were epigenetically engineered to better fit the new environment. They are a bit bigger have larger lungs, a tail base which is more useful for gliding, two large spots on the membranes and a different pattern on their back.  In addition natural selection has changed their hind paws a bit, they are now better suited to grab even thin branches.
Beside that Humboldt gliders are basically Sugar gliders, they love company and feed on nectar, acacia gum, eucalyptus sap and many insects. Because usable tree borrows are still rare in these young forests they tend build their own nests or live in larger colonies (up to 30 specimens)
