Dune ant

Among the macroscopic lifeforms of Nea no genus is probably so well adapted for the survival in the endless deserts of the planet as Cataglyphis. These guys can even hunt in the heat of lunchtime, need very little water and aren't picky, in some regions they mostly feed on the animals which die in the heat of the sun.

C. grallator is one of  two neanean Cataglyphis species and beside humans maybe the animal with the largest distribution area of the planet. Beside being extremely successful hunter itself they are a main food source for many small predators of the desert. 
Ants in general are very common on Nea, like on Earth they giants when it comes to biomass and they help the terraforming process in many ways. For example they "fork over" the ground, transport seeds of which they can't consume all, provide food for others and store water and in some cases protect plants.
