Dakotaraptor and Utahraptor 2.0 by Hyrotrioskjan Dakotaraptor and Utahraptor 2.0 by Hyrotrioskjan
And again I tried myself on the new giant dromaeosaur and it's older (possible) cousin Utahraptor.
This time I like the outcome much more, it's done with Gouache paint and watercolors on grey paper (DinA3). It's still a quick painting, 30/40 minutes for each raptor, so low detail density.

Of course here is still a lot of guesswork involved and there are inaccuracies and speculations all over the place. As long as there is no paper
on the new Utahraptor material this will be my last version of this two guys (but a Austroraptor and Achillobator may follow when I have this paper again).

That's why post here again a warning to all young paleoartists: DON'T USE THIS PICTURE AS A REFERENCE! Don't repeat errors I may did!

Here a link to my first Dakotaraptor drawing, updated version in the description: hyrotrioskjan.deviantart.com/a…

Edit: What do you think about including Acheroraptor, I have still a little piece of this paper...

Edit II: Now with Acheroraptor!

Edit III: Now it should work.

Wahrscheinlich nicht zeitnah, vielleicht wenn das Utahraptor project zu Ende geht und daraus ein Paper geworden ist.

they look around the same size so i guess it's like a jaguar and a leopard meeting i guess (i don't know if those 2 animals are actually different)

Do you know if any of the updated papers on Utah have been published yet?

There is a paper about the geology of the site, but nothing else, you can donate of the 'Utahraptor Project' to help
fund the preparation.

The utahraptor looks oddly built like a budgerigar...... the long body, and long tail. However, not so frail.

Do you think Dakotaraptor was closely related to Achillobator, like T Rex is to Tarbosaurus?

I'm trying to visualize right now on how Utahraptor walks or runs with those short legs of theirs and right now I visualized it walking or running like a duck haha.

Loving the coloration on Dakotaraptor. It really does have abnormally long legs, doesn't it? That Acheoraptor just looks so small and sad. It's still a dangerous predator, but still.
