Spotted milk-eels are the biggest freshwater predators of Pyrungata and, with 1,5 m (sometimes even 1,7 m) in lenght, the biggest freshwater fishes of the archipelago overall.
The animal is known for a big varitiy in color and pattern, which lead the early scientists to the conviction to have discovered many subspecies.
Today we know that the color of this eel change with the habitat they choose. Milk-eels from the mangroves, which live on sandy, light ground are mostly looking like this one from the coast of Scida, other specimens develop a reddish-, brownish gray color, even black ones are known. All of them have six dark spots on their backs which vary in size and form. In addition some specimens have spots at the site and top of their heads.
Milk-eels feed on nearly everything which can pass their mouth.
Crabs, fishes, birds, insects, snails and so on.
