Kraken by Hyrotrioskjan Kraken by Hyrotrioskjan
There is nothing, beside storms and Sea serpents, which the old sailors fear more than the legendary Krake...

Normally this monsters of the deep... lives in the deep, but one time in their live a Gigateuthis must come near the surface.
namely when they lay eggs. The females swim towards the sun and spread their eggs in warmer currents of the upper layers.

Encounters with humans were often inevitable...

in a show, they  reconstructed the kraken and it measured 60 meters O_O
i think your art is more realist cause if they were 60 m. they would not take care of humans cause we would be too small :s
Good work!

Indeed, the existence of the giant squid has been proven, but this isen't a giant squid or colossal squid.

I was watching a special on the hunt for the giant squid...when they actually caught them on film my jaw dropped when they gave it's estimated size.

the fact that something like this could be living in our seas, and are finally confirmed, sort of brings back some of the mystery to the world.

I think even Architeuthis can get up to 100 feet long. Look up the monsterquest episode about the giant squid they caught on camera back in 2006. Its even bigger than the one they found in japan, where the one in japan was only about 32 feet long, this baby was estimated to be 108 feet.

recently, i read back into that, and it seems the squid's proportions were exaggerated. it seems that monster Architeuthis was actually about 40 feet, perhaps slightly larger. Scott Cassell distanced himself from the documentary after, citing that there were multiple factual and scientific errors. Whatever the length of Architeuthis, it is certainly beautiful, and shines like gold or silver when filmed.

True enough my friend. They say bullfrogs only get to 8 inches long, but I've caught some over a foot long. I've also kept red tailed boas who only average 6 feet but they can reach 16 ft, give 'em enough food.

I wonder what they eat down there...

The biggest :iconjellyfishplz: you'll ever see!I read a little about the arctic giant(cyanea capillata arctica) on my world record book. The biggest one ever found was washed up on shore on the massachusetts bay in 1870,it's head was over 7ft 6in and it's tentacles were 120ft long! It's also known as the arctic lion's mane=)

Amazing! Realistic, well-built, and probably an inevitable discovery by the scientific community. The Norse saw something, and this is probably as close as it comes to the real thing. What's next? Another extinct dragon, an extinct sea serpent, a new cryptid, a new culture? Whatever it is- it will be spectacular. Alvarado's file will be up tomorrow :)

Next will be the giant rat of New York.

You're welcome. Alvarado is up, I don't have too much on the dragons- but he only received information through rumour and the locals warning. By comparison, he knows quite a bit about the Kuchopaya because he actually dealt with them. I assume the giant rat of New York is regular prey or the Neoraptors, or do they find them too gross to eat?
