Early dragons 1 by Hyrotrioskjan Early dragons 1 by Hyrotrioskjan
Dracovaranus was one of the first real dragons. It lives during the Eocene in the global rainforests. A very good conserved specimen was found in the sixties in Messel (Germany).
The only species that is older than this is a primitive animal from the late cretaceous.
The flight abilties of Dracivaranus were not so good, often it just gliding from tree to tree.

I would like to see the primitive creature from the cretaceous, probably from Europe right?

The oldest known dragons are from Appalachia, hyrotrioskjan.deviantart.com/a… here is one of them (the description is still outmoded, must change that)

Wonderful, great job. Would be interesting also to see a transitorial form between Coelurosauravus (the ancestor of the dragon lineage, right?) and this one :)

Coelurosauravus was the ancestor of the hypotetical 6-limb-dragons. This animal have monitor lizards as grandparents.

Oh ok, thanks for the advice.
Then a transitional species between monitor lizards and this little fellow would be very intriguin' ;)

I'd love to see a dragonology book like this. I started one a long time ago but ran out of steam not even halfway through.

During my life I'm starting 3 or 4 books about dragons. But only today I have the knowledge and perhaps the endurance to finish one.

Nice. But Im still confused. They did evolve from varanids, no? Or from something else?

They are a sistertaxon of the varanids and mosasaurids.
The last cladogram just show the intern relationsships of the species. The next will have a bigger context.

All of these dragons are so good, I was thinking of making a music video of them on my YouTube page. And because their yours, you can chose what song you might like and I'll try to make it work :).

But yes, well done .

THANK YOU VERY MUCH =D =D
I would be happy if you do that. In the moment I'm not sure what kind of music could be right for the project... just send me suggestions if you want =)

Alright awesome :w00t:. I was thinking of maybe using some "epic music" for the video like I did for this one (if you haven't seen it already?)[link] .

Oh yes, epic is always good =D perhaps the first part would be sufficient for it, 21 modern and 3 (yet) prehistoric is not enough for 7min clip.
I'm curious on the movie =)

Yes, I think I'll go with epic music.

Also, seeing as your book is going to be published. I had the idea of making it a kind of promotional video (to the best of my ability), for people that might then want to buy one :).

What's the book going to be named again?

Ah, okay. Any idea when the book should be released yet? I might need a deadline to help motivate me finish the video sooner (I've kept forgetting do work on it) ^^;.

I haven't any idea if it be published, in the moment I have just 2 parts finished, and this is a prototype to show the visitors of the exhibition how it will be looks like =)
